Privacy Policy
Guardello · Last updated: November 2, 2026
In short: Guardello works on your iPhone. We don't require an account, we don't see the websites you visit, and your photos never leave your device.
This Privacy Policy explains how Ivan Procenko, an individual developer ("we", "us", "our"), handles information when you use the Guardello app, its Safari extension and Safe Browser (the "App"). We are the data controller for the limited personal data described below.
1. What stays on your device
The following data is processed only on your iPhone. We cannot see it, and it is not sent to us or to anyone else:
| Feature | How it works |
|---|---|
| Safari blocking | The extension gives Safari a list of rules. Safari applies them itself and does not tell the App or us which websites you visit. |
| Safe Browser | Uses a private session. History, cookies and cache are not saved and are erased when you tap Clear or close the tab. |
| Link and QR checks | Links are checked against a list stored in the App. Your recent checks are saved only on your device. The camera is used only while you scan a QR code; images are not saved. |
| Block list | The sites you add are stored on your device. |
| Security check | Reads whether Safari protection is on, your iOS version and whether a passcode and Face ID are set up. It does not access your passcode or biometric data. |
| Photo cleanup | With your permission, photos are analyzed on your device to find similar and duplicate images. Photos are never uploaded. |
2. Data we may collect
- Purchases. Payments are processed by Apple. We do not receive your name, payment card or Apple ID. To unlock Premium features and restore purchases, we use RevenueCat, Inc., a subscription management service. RevenueCat receives your purchase history (product, price, date, subscription status and transaction identifiers) together with a random anonymous ID created by the App, plus basic technical data such as app version, iOS version, country and IP address. This data is not linked to your name or email.
- Support. If you email us, we receive your email address and the content of your message and use them only to answer you.
We do not use advertising or analytics SDKs, and we do not use the advertising identifier (IDFA).
We do not collect your browsing history, the links you check, your block list, your photos or your contacts.
3. Why we use data (legal bases)
- To provide Premium features you purchased — performance of a contract.
- To answer support requests — performance of a contract and our legitimate interest in helping users.
- To understand how Premium subscriptions perform (for example, renewals and cancellations, in aggregate) — our legitimate interest.
We do not sell your personal data, do not use it for targeted advertising and do not track you across apps or websites owned by other companies.
4. Sharing
We share data only with service providers that help us run the App, under contracts that require them to protect it, or when required by law. Our service provider is RevenueCat, Inc. (purchase management), which processes data in the United States. See RevenueCat's Privacy Policy.
5. Permissions
- Photos — to find similar and duplicate photos. You can choose limited access or turn it off in iOS Settings.
- Camera — only to scan QR codes.
The App works without these permissions, except for the related features.
6. Retention
On-device data stays on your iPhone until you delete it or delete the App. Support emails are kept for up to 24 months. Purchase records are kept as long as required for accounting and legal purposes.
7. Your rights
Depending on where you live (for example, in the EU, UK or California), you may have the right to access, correct, delete or receive a copy of your personal data, to object to or restrict its processing, and to complain to your local data protection authority. To use these rights, email us at the address below. Because we don't link data to an account, we may ask for details that help us find your request.
8. Children
The App is not directed at children under 13 (or under 16 where local law requires), and we do not knowingly collect personal data from them.
9. Security
We keep data processing on your device wherever possible and use reasonable measures to protect any data we receive.
10. International transfers
If our service providers process data outside your country, we make sure appropriate safeguards are in place, such as the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses.
11. Changes
We may update this Privacy Policy. We will change the date above and, for material changes, notify you in the App.
